The Brass & Soul Discovery
Why we chose solid brass over modern alloys. A deep dive into the metallurgy behind our hardware and the artisans who forge it.
Solid Brass vs Modern Alloys
In modern accessory manufacturing, cheap zinc alloys and flash-plated metals are ubiquitous. They look shiny on day one, but chip and corrode within months. At Aesthec, we chose solid brass — an alloy of copper and zinc revered for millennia for its strength, corrosion resistance, and warm glow.
Sand Casting & Artisanal Forging
Each buckle, clasp, ring, and rivet on an Aesthec bag is cast from solid brass using traditional sand-casting techniques. The raw metal is melted at over 1,000°C and poured into custom sand moulds before being hand-finished to a satin luster.
Because our hardware is solid brass throughout, it will never peel or rust. It can be polished or left to age naturally alongside the leather.
